10th anniversary in Avignon; suggestions on where to dine to celebrate

My husband and I will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary while visiting Avignon. Can anyone one make any suggestions on where we should dine to celebrate the occassion? Open to any and all ideas. Thanks.

No question that the best restaurant in Avignon is Christian Etienne.
Here's the URL: http://www.christian-etienne.fr/

Make reservations in advance, maybe even today...

Thanks for the suggestion Steve. If this is the "best" there has got to be others that aren't close behind, right? If so, what might they be? Thanks again.

Well, there are probably many good restaurants in Avignon, but we were so blinded by Christian Etienne, that we forgot all the rest. BTW, ask to speak to Kelly, the somelier. He's from California, and is very very helpful.

Perhaps you would be interested in a restaurant specializing in truffles. It's called Beaugravier in the town of Gravier about 30 minutes north of Avignon.

Perhaps you can use some of the info in my web page on our trip to provence...
http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/57.../provence.html

enjoy!!!

We will be celebrating our 40th in France. But based on our last (and first) trip to France any nice restaurant would do since we loved them all. But saying that we found the best places were where we were sent by our B&B when we told them we wanted very nice.

Steve:

Actually the restaurant is called
La Beaugravière, in the village of Mondragon - on the N7 between Bollène and Orange. Although truffle season is over, they did have some truffles (they sterilize them and keep them in jars) last week.... but they won't last long !

They also have one of the best wine lists in this, or any, area of France.

In Avignon itself, there is also the restaurant at La Mirande (Christian Etienne used to be the chef there)
Outside of Avignon there is also the Auberge de Noves, in Noves which has excellent food... Monsieur Lalleman sees to that !

Further south (about 40 minutes) is La Petite France here in Maussane-les-Alpilles - another one Michelin star restaurant with an inventive menu(the olive and sage ravioli are wonderful) and an excellent wine list.

PB

A strong second for Christian Etienne. We were there in February and it was a truly fantastic meal. Kelly (mentioned above) was there that night and was extremely helpful. Hope you have a fabulous time!

I second the vote for La Petite France in Maussane-les-Alpilles...make a stop there for dinner one night. (The ravioli is HEAVEN.)

Le Prieure is a Relais Chateau B&B just outside of Avignon. It is a beautiful 14th century priory turned into a hotel. The food is execellent and you can eat outside in a wonderful garden. High recommend. The hotel has a nice pool.
