1000 places to see before you die

I just saw on the Travel Channel a new show: 1000 places to see before you die. It starts toward the end of March!

I'm glad to see the travel channel is adding a new show, which should be wonderful.

Hi Monica- there is a book of the same name, by Patricia Schultz. I wonder if they are going "through the book?" That will be a wonderful show it seems.

Do you have a link to the list of places?

I had tried the link the Travel Channel gave early on, but it didn't work. It was basically travelchannel.com/1000places

Just tried again. No luck. I do have the book though...I should go through it and see how much of her list I've hit so far. I have my own list, of course.

It's been a very popular book for the past few years, one that I've given as a gift many times over as it's wonderful. Too bad it didn't come out when I was 20 so I might have had a reasonable chance of getting to all of those places. Not that I can complain, really......

Yes, I do have the book. Bought it about a year ago. It would be great if they go through the entire book.

Here's what I found from the link:

Inspired by Patricia Schultz's best-selling travel book, 1,000 Places to See Before You Die chronicles the journey of a young couple who put their lives on hold to travel the world for 14 weeks.

Albin and Melanie Ulle, newlyweds from Colorado, experience the vast beauty and diverse cultures of 13 amazing countries and approximately 100 of the 1,000 Places from the book, while unearthing all the local charms and traditions along the way!

Premieres Thursday, March 29, at 9 and 10 p.m. ET/PT on the Travel Channel.

Alaska and Italy are the first 2 shows.

I bought the book about two years ago. We always check the book when we go to a new place and highlight the places that we have been. The deal we have made is that we will highlight our sites and my oldest son, who also has the travel bug, gets it when we die and it is his job to go to the rest of the sites that we did not get to. Kind of fun but some of the sites haven't been very memorable. I am looking forward to the new show as it is one of the few shows on Travel Channel that shouldn't be concentrated on Las Vegas.

The links worked! Even the one I've been trying for weeks!

Now to explore

Did anyone watch the shows last night? They featured Alaska and Italy (the lake region and Venice). I wonder how the couple got picked for the show?

Monica, the couple was on a talk show I watched the other day...evidently, they went to an open casting call and were the lucky chosen ones!

I received a copy as a birthday present about 3 years ago from my friend, Mara. Since then, I have purchased several copies as gifts for friends & family. It's a great book for looking at and dreaming.

I was really surprised when my friend Phyllis, who received one of the books from me, gave me the board game as a present!! Yes, it's now available as a board game, however I've yet to play it.

Peace, Robyn >-

My husband and I watched the first episode last night and thought that they really could have gotten a better couple for this program.......bland and non interesting personalities for a travel show.

I'd love to do something like this, but seriously, how DO you put your life (mainly, your job) on hold for that long?

Oh, geez, I thought it was 100 places! Too much to see and not enough time! We will do the best we can - we have enjoyed the places we have been able to see so far anyway. I hope that anyone who has hit the 1000 marks has posted trip reports for each one ...I thank you.

As much as I love to watch travel shows, I don't go out of my way to see this show. This couple is pretty boring!

The couple they chose couldn't be more boring. It's too bad. If Samantha Brown was hosting it, I would be more likely to watch it.

If I were hosting the show, I'd be in heaven.
