Drive to Montichiello, a beautiful drive from Montepulciano. Have lunch or dinner at Taverna de Moranda

The copper shop is on the main drag up the hill near the southern end of town. My nephew, who recently returned from 3 years in Rome, bought hundreds of $$$ worth of his hand made cookware.

We had our best meal at Taverna de Moranda during our stay in Tuscany. There was a restaurant to the left as you entered the gate, and Taverna was a block or so into the town. Not well marked, but well worth the stop. ((b))

Take some time to visit the Abbazia di Sant'Antimo outside of Montalcino when the monks are chanting...the setting, the voices, the feeling of utter peace...one of our great memories..

thanks Traviata, that is a good suggestion - and Montalcino is of course on the list!
