10 Free Days in Fall--where to go??? Help!!
Where would you pick to spend 10 days in France in late September/early October if you want charming villages, greenery ,and easy walks?
We are planning 5 nites Paris, 4 nites Lyon and probably 5 nites outside Sarlat. We have spent time around Dijon/Annecy/Chamonix/some of Brittany. We have 10 days open and are not sure where to go. We will have a car. We had thought of going to Loire Valley, but Stu Dudley does not recommend the Loire valley area for scenery and charming towns. Would appreciate any advice and suggestions!! |
It is important to remember that the charming small towns/ villages in late September/ October are very very quiet.
I loved Avignon, Orange, Roussilon and around the Provence area. |
Thank you!

In the fall, I would first head for the Ardennes and the Vosges for the autumn foliage and then work my way down through Alsace, the Jura and a bit of the Alps. This does not appear to correspond to your ideas, except for maybe Chamonix.

I'd aim for Alsace which pretty close to the Vosges. Or Narbonne.
