10 days in Spain - please help with itinerary decisions

Sister and I are traveling to Spain end of October/beginning of November. We have traveled to France and Italy on previous trips - first time to Spain.

Flight - nonstop DFW to MAD on AA, arrive Wednesday a.m.

Thanks to help from this forum, we will stay in an apartment in Madrid - Lope de Vega II for 5 nights, departing by train Monday.

Train to Granada - 2 nights, departing Wednesday for where?, or 3 nights, departing Thursday, returning by train to Madrid for last night before flight home Friday Morning.
Hotel AC Palacio Santa Paula in Granada

Question - 2 or 3 nights in Granada? If we stay 2 nights, then we'll have a 1 night stay somewhere which seems time consuming (train. Checking in, checking out). Is Granada a 3 night destination? At that time of year, the days will be short.

Thursday night in Madrid- Hotel Ritz
Friday - fly home.

So - the big question is 2 or 3 nights in Granada. If two, what would we do with the 3rd night?

Thx, in advance, for help.
I look forward to exploring a country new to me.

To answer your question, I think we need to know more about your interests.

Perhaps 1 night in Sevilla?

Granada is probably best as a 2 night city, but since you are "stuck" with a decision giving it 3 nights or just 2 and then having just 1 night to spend somewhere before having to return to Madrid, I suggest that you plan to leave Granada early on your final morning and stop in Cordoba for most of the day on your way back to Madrid. That will give you the benefit of spending almost a day in Cordoba (the Mezquita is a "don't miss") without having to change hotels.

It's 2.5 hours to Cordoba, then 2 more to Madrid. You could be in Cordoba by 11:30 and then leave for Madrid by 6:00 leaving you enough time to check in and have your final late Spanish dinner.

Unfortunately, I think Seville is a little too far from Granada to make this work over the additional distance.

Good idea from PP
You can leave luggage in the bus or train station in Cordoba
