10 Days in Italy - Itinerary
 

We are planning a 10 day trip to Italy in September for our 25th Anniversary. We fly into Venice early afternoon and out of Rome late morning. I've always wanted to go to the Amalfi Coast but I'm afraid we won't have time ...if we visit Venice, Florence and Rome. Any suggestions?

If you've always wanted to go to the Amalfi Coast, maybe you can change your flight arrangements, fly in and out of Rome, and celebrate your 25th anniversary on the Amalfi Coast and in Rome.

Otherwise, yes, if you plan to visit Venice, Florence and Rome, you're already short on time.

How many nights do you have in Italy? I would think you can visit a maximum of 3 places and 2 would be more relaxing. How about eliminating Florence?

Venice- 3 nights
Amalfi- 3-4 nights
Rome- how ever many nights you have left.

Take the train from Venice to Salerno and then catch the bus or ferry from there to Amalfi or Positano. Reverse the trip when going to Rome. Pretty simple.

I would take the Amalfi Coast over Florence any day. How about taking a night train from Venice, arriving in Naples in the morning then taking a ferry to Sorrento. After Sorrento, a train to Rome and wa-la, your trip it complete.

Of course, I have no idea if there are any night trains from Venice but you can call B.E.T.S. at 734.665.8116 or www.budgeteuropetravel.com. They are located in Ann Arbor, MI and they are a wealth of knowledge with train travel.

Looks like Easy Jet flies Venice to Naples in case the overnight train is not available.

3-4 days in Venice beats out Amalfi Coast....

P.S. I agree with what zoe said it sounds fantastic.

Doing Rome, Florence and Naples in 10 days (and is that 10 full days on the ground - or only 8) is already really pushing it.

Agree if you want to see Amalfi Coast - do just that and Rome - so you have time for more than just drive-bys of all these world famous sights.
