10 days in Barcelona

Hey everyone,

I am planing my first trip to Barcelona for June 20th-30th. My parents went last year but I thought that it would be interesting to get some input from other people. I love sightseeing and architecture. I also always really want to go to Andorra for no reason other than the fact that it is a tiny country in the Pyrenees. I do not have a basic itinerary yet so literally anything and everything would be great.

Thanks in advance

I love Barcelona but IMO staying there for the entire ten days/nights seems a bit much but to each their own.

You can always take a day trip or two...i
I have visited six times, going again in April.
Fantastic city.

<<staying there for the entire ten days/nights seems a bit much >>

And that's why the OP can look into overnights in nearby towns of interest.

To the OP: start googling, check out good travel websites like . . . Fodors.com and others and you'll get plenty of information on Barcelona architecture and sites to visit. Come back when you have a proposed list for help paring that down and for where-to-stay advice.

If the OP goes to Andorra as mentioned, and likes to hike, not just shop, then a couple nights there will be nice. There are buses direct from Barcelona to Andorra which has many spa hotels.

You can do a day trip to Freixenet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freixenet and one to Torres http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodegas_Torres

I'd overnight for a couple of nights in Girona. Most people visit as a daytrip but it's nice to take it easy and enjoy for a couple of days. It may also be nice to spend a couple of days in Begur or the surrounding coastal areas. It may be a little crowded in June but it's one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen in Spain. A couple of nights in Tarragona would also be nice. Of course, Girona & Tarragona could be just daytrips from Barcelona too. Other daytrips using public transportation: Vic, Sitges, Montserrat, Besalu, Figueres, just a few.

We also went to Spain for 10 days, 7 in Barcelona, 3 in Mallorca. We REALLY loved Palma, Mallorca (Around $85/rt from Barcelona). If you go that route, I also recommend HomeAway.com for apartment rentals. This is a place I'd love to live. Try the street vendors roasted chestnuts, the mallorquina gelato (all gelato is great) and eat at Celler Sa Premsa. Gorgeous cathedral in Mallorca.
While in Barcelona, take the train to Monserrat. Gorgeous place- I wish we'd stayed the nite there so we'd had more time to hike. Ballooning Barcelona is also amazing. Have a great trip!

Barcelona is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe (if not THE most!)!
Andorra is a charming little country in the Pyrenees known for its skying resorts and hiking trails (and cheper cosmetics, tabacco and alchool prices).
I visited Andorra several times. The capital Andorra la Vella is a nice, elegant city well worth visiting.
