10 days golf and sightseeing - open agenda

Three of us will be travelling to Ireland in September for 10 days - but only two are golfers. Landing at Shannon airport. Any suggestions on itineraries that would be convenient for golfers as well as close to things for the non-golfer to occupy herself during the day? None of us has ever been to Ireland before, probably will stay in B & B's unless other suggestions. Thanks so much

Check out http://www.harveysdock.com They have waterfront self catering holiday suites on the water in East Cork and there are 15 golf courses within a thirty mile radius.

If you play golf in Killarney, there are many things for the other person to do! They could have a nice meal at the golf course and tour Killarney.
Doonbeg has a new course, great B&B called An Tintean, many things near Doonbeg of interest. Get a D&K eyewitness travel guide.

Forgot to mention Lahinch gold course. It is beautiful! This is not that far from Shannon Airport.

I was in Ireland in Sep'01 and Sep'02 and the weather was very nice for golf.
Yes, Lahinch is nice but expensive. Spanish Point is a 9-hole links layout near Miltown Malbay (i.e., less than 10mi from Lahinch) that's much less expensive.
BTW
My most recent trip was May'03: Carne Golf Links. Wednesday, it was raining. I didn't play but there were golfers on the course including a foursome from Conroe, Texas who had given me a lift. I went back to play Thursday: no rain but gale force winds.

You'll basically hit a golf course every time you throw a stone in Ireland. So I'd let the non-golfer pick some places they'd like to see, and then look for courses around there. And I would only force the non-golfer to spend the day in Killarney town if you really don't like this person.

Depending on how busy it is with tourists , I could find plenty to do in Killarney for the day by myself.

Lots of Shopping ( even an outlet store :) )
Muckross house, Jaunting car ride, Walking through the gardens & farm,

Ross Castle,

Take a bus tour for the day of the Ring of Kerry , or Dingle peninsula.

Lots of choices.

(You will find 2 types of people - those who love Killarney and those who don't - I love it. I spent 2 days there on my first trip, and 3 days there on my 2nd trip, and even that wasn't enough - thinking of doing 4 or 5 days there next time !)
