10 day trip to Switzerland

Hey folks,

We are planning a 10 day trip to Switzerland later this month. Looking for guidance on what to cover and what not to miss and in what order. Please send in your recommendations. Will be flying in and out of Zurich. Also travelling with teen kids. Would like to cover Lucern, Bern, Mount Platus, and Jungfrau regions

Help us help you.

Where are you flying into and out of? Have you booked anything? Have you booked accommodation? What are your interests? Are you planning to travel by train/bus?

Flying in and out of Zurich, Traveling with 2 teens. We want to ideally go to Bern, Lucern, Mount Platus and Janfrau regions etc.

That would be the Jungfrau region.

Best bases for the Berner Oberland/Jungfrau region are Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Grindelwald or Murren. I've stayed in all of them, and personally prefer Wengen and Murren, but Murren might be a bit sleepy for teens. More to do in Grindelwald, but then again, it depends on interests. Lots of hiking opportunities if that appeals.

This video will give you a taste of what's on offer:

Good resource to get you started:

Maybe consider something like Zurich-Lucerne-Bern-BO/Jungfrau-Zurich

I strongly recommend you travel by train. Schedules and fares here, keeping in mind the site defaults to half fare:

https://www.sbb.ch/en/home.html

About Swiss train passes (we've found the Half Fare Card is the best value for us, but it depends on what you plan to see and do - you'll have to crunch the numbers).

I suspect the hardest bit will be paring things down - ten days will fly by and there's loads to do in Switzerland for those of us who love the outdoors.

we loved our stay in Lauterbrunnen. The surrounding valley is spectacular. Drive to Stechelberg stopping at Trummelbach falls.

sheebs, would appreciate if you could tell us how your trip went off. My extended family is planning a trip for end May/early June next year, 12-13 nights starting Geneva and ending Zurich. Will start a separate thread in the next couple of days, but would be great to get a feel about your visit too. Thanks 😊
