10 commandments for Venice/Greece trip

1. I will try not to laugh if I see “form a single line” sign at the Marco Polo airport.
2. I will not look for life vests on vaporetti.
3. I will not cut spaghetti.
4. I will not ask which bus goes to Burano.
5. It’s nothing personal getting only one ice cube in my drink.
6. I will not look for a brake riding a donkey in Santorini.
7. I will not attempt to smuggle ouzo on the cruise ship.
8. I will remember there is no “G” in gyro.
9. I will not ask, “How much is it converted to US dollars.”
10. I will not send “wish you were here?” post cards.

(feel free to add!)

6.I will NOT ride the poor abused donkeys!

I will carry the donkeys on my back and bring apple slices for them.

love your first commandment! Marco Polo check-in = mayhem! :)

Heimdall Feb 27th, 2011 11:15 AM

No bringing your own ouzo aboard cruise ships? Then substitute #7 for: "Never go on a cruise in the Greek Islands. Take a ferry instead, and stay on each island at least three days." :-D

Dayenu Feb 27th, 2011 01:41 PM

How about that:

7. I will not drink enough ouzo not to remember which island I am on.

This is priceless! Thank you Sig. D :-)

I will not stand still at San Marco, lest a pigeon think my hair is a toilet-nest.

(Buon viaggio to you and Signore Again!)

Heimdall Feb 28th, 2011 02:14 AM

2a. Never (please, never!) sing "Just One Cornetto" while riding in a gondola. :-))

Thank you Sig.

Who is Sig? Was a post deleted here?

Thank you, all.

Cali: yeah, we'll be restless in San Marco :D

Dayenu Mar 4th, 2011 01:38 PM

Who is Sig?

LoveItaly Mar 4th, 2011 01:47 PM

Dayenu, that is the abbreviation for signora..the Italian for a married or any adult woman.

Have fun thinking of your upcoming trip! And don't forget to order a glass of Prosecco while in Venice.

Dayenu Mar 4th, 2011 02:15 PM

Oh, that! Thank you, L'Italy :)

I am not blushing, I don't think it's the silliest question asked on Fodor's. Or is it? Never mind, don't answer!

Good idea, Bevmo has prosecco starting at $10, maybe I need some drinking training... like training bra, training sippy cup, training prosecco ((D))

LoveItaly Mar 4th, 2011 02:47 PM

LOL, Dayenu, I don't think either one of us could come up with the silliest question ever posted on Fodor's. Start training..you have my approval! ((D))

YvonneT Mar 4th, 2011 04:10 PM

Uffa and allora, now I am the one blushing. Dayenu, please clarify: are you male or female? (Sorry, you only have 2 options.) Sig. is the abbreviation for Signor (Mr). I may have misjudged your gender all this time! :-)

8) I will NOT flush my toilet paper in Greece but put it in the small container beside the toilet.

Dayenu Mar 4th, 2011 08:13 PM

Female... I need a different profile photo :)
