10-13 day trip to Italy - budget?

Just one more question, the length of the trip also depends on the cost - a shorter trip will be easier on the budget! I have planned 150-175 euros a night for accomodations since I have seen decent apts for that, but how much should I allow per day besides that? We are not very big on expensive restaurants, maybe just one expensive dinner and low prices for lunch and medium priced places for dinner. (We love pizza, if that helps)Thanks.

Hi, excited_confused. Where in Italy are you going? I think smaller towns are generally cheaper than big cities. I always overspend in Rome, for example, but have recouped in Siena, Assisi, Corniglia, etc.

Hello excited_confused. I just saw your first thread but have not had time to read it.

Italy..that is always exciting!

May I suggest that you repost this question regarding your budget to your first thread as that way Fodorites will know the details of your trip and will no doubt be better able to help. Best regards.

My usual biggest expenses on a trip are:

1) Lodging
2) Food
3) Transportation
4) Admission fees
5) Entertainment

Do your hotel rates include breakfast? Are you a big eater? Do you need 3-course lunches or will you be fine with a panini from a take-out place?

Are you moving around a lot to many cities & towns? If yes, your transportation cost will be higher. Are you comfortable with using public transportation (buses, metro) or are you a taxicab person?

Will you be attending concerts there?

All these add up.

See if this helps---you may need to interpolate:

Bob, that's a great set of budget numbers. I especially like the seperate line item "gelato and cappuccino!" Absolute necessities!

Sorry, this is a follow-up question to another thread, I just reposted it on the original thread so it makes more sense. Thanks!
