1 week in late april/may
 

we just grabbed a cheap ticket to from hong kong to london gatwick and would like to seek advice on where to spend a week. interested destinations include spain, sorrento/amalfi, sicily, ireland, tunisia, sardinia.

we know 1 week is pretty short for any country but we want to have a good glimpse of one within that short time span. we're more interested in arts, music, scenery and local scenes. any advice on the destination and means of transport etc. most grateful.

in that case, would it be silly to base in one town, say catania, and tour around everyday, or we should stay in two for a better feel of the island?

Agree with travelbunny - Sicily is a great place. I would definitely base in two different areas as the island is huge. We based in three but then we were there for two weeks.

So that will be Palermo and .... ?
