#1 Ranked Germany Album on Webshots!

I hope you guys don't mind me bragging just a little bit. My DH has the No. 1 ranked Germany Album on webshots.com. It's titled Small Towns in Germany and Austria from our trip in May 2005.

It was selected to be a "Featured" Album in August 2005 and to date has been viewed by almost 800,000 people.

Some of the places covered in this album are Bad Wimpfen, Beilstein, Cochem, Schwaebisch Hall, Dinkelsbuehl, Hall in Tirol, Hallstatt, Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Iphofen.

I would return to any of these places in a heartbeat and if you are considering a visit to one of these lovely towns, do check out my DH's photos.

Thanks for letting me toot my horn!

Great, I know what I am going to be doing tonight!
Well done Mr Bettyk, congratulations.

I've seen some of the pictures when you've posted the link before and they are gorgeous. Your husband certainly has a knack for photography. Congrats!!

Copngratulations, bettyk and DH! 800,000 views, that's terrific!

We leave for Germany and Switzerland in just a few weeks. After viewing your photos, I'm really getting anxious!

Now, about your Texas wildflowers' album... you mean you came to the Hill Country without saying hello? ;)

Happy travels!

Good for DH.

As the wife of another devoted photographer I can empathize with your pride in your husband's good work and your opportunity to bask in this swell recognition. Lovely photographs. Congratulations.

Congratulations!!!

I've always enjoyed looking at your photo's!

Thanks everybody. DH is the type who really gets involved with whatever interests him. He doesn't do anything half way (like me, I'm afraid!). Has to have the right equipment, takes classes, etc.

The photos on webshots are just a small number of the overall photos he has taken on our trips. Usually, there are 600 - 1000 and we pick the "best" to put on webshots. That's not easy!

There are so many amazing photographers who post on webshots. Always something interesting to look at.

Excellent photos. Makes me eager for my next visit!

One question though - does your husband's quest for great photo ops impede your enjoyment of the place? In other words, do you ever want to kick him in the butt and say, "C'mon already"? My wife gets a bit antsy when I wander off looking for a better angle or vantage point and I'm not 1/10 the photographer your spouse is. Factor in the fact that my twenty-three year old son who travels with us is becoming an even bigger camera dork than me, we simply drive the old girl nuts when he heads in one direction to snap pictures with his tripod and cameras while I go off the opposite way. We spent more time pulled-off on the side of the road below Neuschwanstein snapping pictures than we spent at the silly castle itself.

Zeus, yes, I have been known to get a little impatient with DH from time to time, but he's hopeless so I've learned to deal with it! I either find a place to sit down or wander around on my own. Mostly, though, I just stand around waiting.

But it's definitely worth it when we look at the pics at the end of the day!

Swisshiker, where in the Hill Country do you live? All of the wildflower photos were taken around Chappell Hill, Brenham and Independence Tx.

Terrrfic Betty !

I have admired his albums before---great stuff.

swisshiker Jun 25th, 2008 05:38 PM

Hi Betty :)
Austin, Texas - yee haw! <):)

Where are you?

bettyk Jun 25th, 2008 06:19 PM

Swisshiker, we're in a little community SW of Houston. Woohoo! One of these days, we plan to visit Austin -- but not in the Summer!!

Thanks, Bob.

Hi bettyk,
I have a brother in Austin, TX! We last visited Jan. 2006. Loved the city and a nice time of year to visit... weather wise. If the temps weren't similar to the planet Mercury's in summer, we'd think of relocating.

Yes, Paul, summer is our hibernation period! We all stay indoors with the AC on full blast! But the plants and flowers in my yard love the warmth and humidity.

However, we did have a wonderful spring and it lasted a little longer this year than usual (at least a week - LOL!).

bettyk - Congrats to your DH for the nod from Webshots. His photos are great!

I had to laugh when I saw the one in Bad Wimpfen, of the beautiful half-timbered house with the wisteria out front. I have almost the same exact shot in my collection of photos, but then I imagine that is one of the most photographed houses in Bad Wimpfen.

About the pictures from Dettlebach... was the sky really that purple?

Robyn :)>-

bettyk Jun 26th, 2008 05:46 PM

Robyn, you're talking about the Schmuck or jewelry shop in Bad Wimpfen? Yes, I'm sure it is photographed alot as it is so unusual!

As far as the purple sky in Dettelbach, DH is always playing around with filters to see what affect they have, so it could have been a filter. I just know we were so happy to have found this pretty little wine town.

Very well done, Betty and DH! Very nice to re-visit these photos, outstanding work.
