From near the train station, take the funicular up to Grutshalp (spelling not guaranteed). Then walk along the edge of the cliff (nice level paved path, no danger, also a train runs this route) to Murren. We always walk; the scenery is quite good. At Murren, check the weather at the top of Schilthorn, and your wallet. If both are good, take the cable car up to Schilthorn and enjoy the view. If the weather is not good, or you don't have a lot of money, take the cable car down from Murren to Stechelberg on the floor of the valley (a thrilling ride) then walk (or catch a bus) back to Lauterbrunnen. On the way are numerous waterfalls, one actually inside a mountain). This is another easy walk, and the waterfalls are good scenery.

If you are a fast walker, I think this could be done in a half-day. If you're slower, or start later, lunch in Murren or in the revolving restaurant atop the Schilthorn.

Clevelandbrown gives a good suggestion on how to spend 1 day in the area just above Lauterbrunnen.

If the weather is clear the day you are there, you'll see some really fine, fine views of the Jungfrau and company.

It will not take too much time doing this excursion.

Once you get to Murren, have some lunch and enjoy the scene there. Take the train back to the Grutsalp area where you can take the funnicular back down to Lauterbrunnen.

Have fun
