1 day cooking class in Tuscany region recommendation please

Hi. I am looking for the ultimate italian experience by taking a 1 day cooking class in someone's home. Can anyone share their experience with this and whom they would recommend? We'll be in Florence and then renting a car to poke around Tuscany, so the area is flexible. Appreciate your input!!

Hi,

I have a couple of recommendations for you ..

http://www.divinacucina.com - Judy Witts Francini near Florence

http://www.FoodArtisans.com Pamela Sheldon Johns near Montepulciano.

Both rather well known culinary artists!

HI Brendelena,

Il Vicario near San Gimignano.

This place is one i learned of on this forum. Also, read the tripadvisor reviews:

http://www.tripadvisor.in/Attraction...o_Tuscany.html

After searching and enquiring of a bunch, we chose this one based on great reviews, small class size, reasonable price, and home environment--in her kitchen at this small inn, Il Vicario. If it helps, here is her answer to my email. (i found the email address on the TA review.)

"we have cooking class every day and we make for only a person or more people.
We can organize half day cooking class (lunch or dinner or lunch and dinner) , we usually start to make pasta hand made, two different sauces for pasta (a red and the other creamy with beans) we'll make a lot of tipycal tuscany antipasti, meat and vegetables.During the cooking class you'll taste 3 different wines and at the end you'll have also special tuscany dessert. If you like have two cooking class in a day (lunch and dinner) we can make pizza or special soup at dinner time. This is what we usually make, but if you have special request we'll be happy to help you to organize. The price is 60 euro for half day cooking class and 110 euro for a day of cooking class (lunch and dinner). This is our net price."

When will you be in TuscanY/ We are going mid-June

Thank you all very much. I am trying to get in touch with Il Vacario, but the link on their page isn't working. I've emailed and awaiting to hear back. Has anyone heard of Lets Cook in Umbria? Also, what about classes in Bologna. We'll be in Florence so we could do a day trip there. CaliNurse, we'll be there in May. A month away..so excited.

I also booked with Il Vicario for next month. The reviews I read were all great, and it was much more reasonably priced (65 euros per person) than most of the other classes I saw offered.

This is the email I've been using: [email protected]

Katia replies pretty quickly. Good luck, maybe I'll see you there!

Hi - we went in October - we did a wine and dine combo pack. Picked up in Florence and took a van to a private vinyard and then off to Christines house where we made our own pasta. Meanwhile she was preparing additional dishes. When ours was complete we came upstairs and and she had a wonderful feast. You can check out their website at @ http://www.accidentaltourist.com/ - enjoy -i am sure you will have a marvelous time.

In case anyone is still wondering, DH loved the class we took with Katia at il Vicario last May. I highly recommend it if you'll be near San Gimingnano!

if you haven't already booked. We used this for our 1 day cooking class in Florence. It was fabulous They picked us up so we didn't have to drive to the villa which was nice after drinking all the wine we consumed. www.tuscany-cooking-class.com. Good Tastes of Tuscany.....
