1 car 1 auto rental

Is anyone familiar with 1 car 1 auto rental? We're going to Scotland in August and booked with them as they had the best rate. We have a reservation, but, unlike other companies, they do not need a deposit to hold our reservation. We were told, both by phone & e-mail that we're all set with a Vauxhall Astra Automatic rental, no deposit or credit card number needed in advance. In the US, every company wants a deposit. Am I being skitish for no reason???

Were you told in writing? Do you have a confirmation number and a hard copy of that proposal? If so, I wouldn't worry. If not, I'd be looking.

aeiger,
what is ttt? I do have an email confirmation, etc. Just not used to no deposit.........

ttt, means "to the top". When aeiger did that, it brought your question back to the top of the list so that you could get an answer.

I wouldn't worry about the no deposit thing. We've even rented apartments for a week in Europe without giving any deposit at all. Some places in the world there is still a thing called "trust". So unless someone posts that this outfit is a scam, I wouldn't worry at all.
And actually, I rarely if ever do an advance deposit on car rental in the US. I've rented from Avis, Hertz, National, and Dollar mostly. None have required advance deposits. Who do you book with?

Thanks for explaining "ttt". We've booked directly with 1 car 1. According to their web site they are an independent company, not a booking agent. Booked online - got an e-mail confirmation. Called their US office, who sent us another confirmation (same #). I guess unless i hear otherwise on this forum, I'm OK.

I don't normally pay a deposit in the UK (nor in the States for that matter). Sometimes when getting a special pre-paid deal, I have paid up front. But the vast majority of times I've rented cars in the UK I didn't give a credit card number until picking up the car.
