Not from the beginning of the year but last April when we started planning our last trip it was about 1.60 USD to 1.00 Euro.

1.26 today but we're keeping our eyes on the pound: 1.49.

Happy to report that I got back from Italy about 10 days ago and the Euro was 1.29 to the dollar. Made things a whole lot less expensive than I expected. Especially shopping in Florence.

Of course there are small fluctuations, but the fact remains that at the time of posting the USD was the highest it had been since April 2006 - nearly 1000 days.

The point was - that has nothing to do w/ the election. The rapid rise predates the election by several weeks . . . . .
