Would you like some wine?
Just curious of what some of you cruisers think of this.
On 2 RCCL cruises I ordered wine with dinner and the waiter brought me my bottle, we went through the tasting ritual and then he offered my wine to my tablemates, They were not my family just tablemates. I found it strange that he would do that and on one cruise he offered my wine to others every night. No one ever accepted his offer. Do you think this is appropriate that the waiter should offer my wine to other people at the table? |
Of course it was not appropriate. Too bad you did not have a private word with each waiter after dinner.

Perhaps I should have explained my last answer a little better. The waiters assumed that everyone at the table knew each other and were part of your family. They could have & should have first asked, somehow, if the others were part of your group.

Yes, I would like some! Oh, there's more to the post? Darn.
I think Vic nailed it--confused waiter. On the other hand, it's a good way to make new friends. |
This was not appropriate. On one RCCL cruise a woman ordered a bottle of wine, and the waitress pored in all glasses only after that woman told her to do so.
Once the bottle was not finished, they store in the kitchen refrigerator and brought to dinner the next day. You should've told the waiter or maitre'd about this after the first time. We like wine after dinner, to sit in a bar listening to music. Dinner is for conversation :) |
How odd. We usually have wine with dinner and never had that happen. We occasionally have brought wine onboard and paid the corkage fee. More often order wine from the menu and never has a server offered our bottle to tablemates. Agree you should have explained that your wine is for your consumption, not the others at the table.
