Would it be a bad idea to on our cruise pregnant
We were planning on using our 12 day cruise in June to the Mediterranean to kick off our decision to expand our little family (our first baby). But I am getting pretty impatient and I am ready to start maybe a little earlier.
Do you think it would be a bad idea to go pregnant?? I mean like 4-6 weeks pregnant. I am also assuming that I can get pregnant very quickly.... |
Just got some of the papers yesterday for Princess and they say no cruisers within their third trimester. You would not be.

If you're prone to sea sickness, combining it with morning sickness might be mistake. Also, I don't know if it's OK to take dramamine or bonine while pregnant.
What's an extra 4 weeks in a lifetime? I'd suggest you aim to conceive on board instead--you'll have a better time. |
Things to consider:
*seasickness on top of morning sickness *different foods that your tummy isn't used to *it might be a risky pregnancy and maybe the insurance you chose would not allow you to get your money back due to pre-existing condition * possible contact with strange diseases from foreign countries or from the 100's on board *triathlete had a good idea :-)Then name the baby something appropriate with the area she/he was conceived!! Good luck!! |
A friend of mine cruised during her first trimester and she had severe morning sickness. I probably wouldn't risk an expensive trip to Europe and have the possibility of being sick every morning.

Just in case a doctor or poster from some of the medical associations or child birth defect institutes haven't told you- right now BEFORE you get pregnant is a great time to take extra folic acid. Cuts your risk in several birth defect categories. Take that until the cruise and then have a great time.

The only problem with this, or any other pregnancy travel plan, is that one never knows how one will feel during a pregnancy or if they will develop complications that make it difficult or impossible to travel. So whatever you decide, make sure travel is cancellable or insurance will cover. If you book now and buy insurance before you are pregnant, I think that eliminates "pre-existing condition" problem with most insurances and pregnancy.
You will make yourself insane if you try to time your pregnancy to various life demands - rarely works. |
