World Cruise?

My mother-in-law was planning to do a world cruise next year with HAL or Cunard (90-some days) but her travel agent warned her against it, saying she should start with a 30 day cruise. She says people find they get tired of it. I know she's disappointed, thinking, at 82, this may be her only chance. Does anyone have thoughts on this? Should she just go for it? Other than tiring out with alot of walking, she's in great health. The most she's done before was a 10 day cruise and a 3 week bus tour. Thanks.

Why have you posted this question three times?

Side53,

If you post on your name after "Author" all of your posts will come up. No need to keep posting over and over again.

Tell your MIL to do it - and - with a new Travel Agent. !! What a pessimist, you don't need that attitude at 82 !!

I suppose OP has posted repeatedly hoping for an answer. You will be more likely to get one on cruisecritic.com; try the HAL and Cunard forums. The HAL forum has a running commentary from the current world cruise. You can ask folks who have taken or are on the cruise. Good luck!

My 2C is I wouldn't rely on strangers advice to decide on it. Who knows your MIL abilities better than herself and family? If you need a great agent, contact my agent Alex at [email protected]

sjde53,
I am currently on the Regent Voyager World Cruise (currently in Africa on our way to Kenya). This is the 2nd WC my husband and I have done. Before our first WC, the longest cruise we had done was 10 days so going on a 109 night WC was a huge leap for us as well.

I would strongly encourage your Mom to go. There are MANY single elderly women on board who are in good physical and mental health having the time of their lives! This current WC is 111 nights and the time is flying by. On sea days there are so many activities to keep you busy if you so choose. Do not listen to the TA who is discouraging your Mom.

Also, she may want to look into Regent's WC as well as HAL and Cunard. I have friends currently on board that have done WC on both of those lines but say that Regent offers far more in terms of including excursions, special events, complimentary beverages including alchol, gratuities included, larger cabins all with balconies which is important on long cruises, complimentary luggage pick-up and delivery, 1st class air included and more. They say that after going on Regent's WC they won't be returning to the other cruiseline's WC.

Please feel free to email me if you have any other concerns or questions. [email protected]

Happy Cruising to your Mom!!!

oops...sorry I referred to your Mother-in-law as your Mom.

Oops--I thought I needed to post under General Interest as well as HAL and Cunard in order for as many interested people as possible to see.

Thanks for the help.

Sue
