Winter transatlantic - how are the waves?

We are celebrating my spouse's January birthday on the QE2 transatlantic winter crossing. We've taken several cruises (including QE2 New York to Canada) and seasickness has never been an issue. But this will be our first transatlantic voyage. Does anyone have experience with the waves/weather on a north Atlantic crossing in winter? Would you recommend taking seasickness pills preventively, or wait and see if we need them?
