Windstar, which caribbean cruise?

We're considering taking either the Windsurf 7-day cruise from Barbados to St. Thomas, or the Wind Spirit 7-day st. thomas cruise. We are recently married, in our mid 30's-40's, and like hiking, scuba diving, sailing.. my husband is reluctant to try a cruise, so I don't want him to have a terrible experience.
If any one has taken either of these cruises or can offer another line, we'd love to hear from you.

thanks a million
We sailed Windsurf (Barbados/Barbados) in '99. Since this was our only Windstar sailing, I cannot compare other ships, but it was fabulous!
You may want to ask this question at:
cruisecritic.com (go to the Windstar board). Posters may offer you suggestions re: Wind Spirit vs. Windsurf.

Madelaine- We did the Windsurf in the Med last year-May '01....
we booked that one over the WindSpirit since the Windsurf has 330 passengers, 2 dining rooms and a larger casino-and elevators.

the Windspirit has no elevator,120 passengers,1 dining room and a very small casino area-like 3 Black Jack tables....

Other than the above reasons, food and service should be comparable...

It was a Fabulous Cruise! WE loved it--
we are 53 and 58 and the ages ranged from mid 30's to mid 60's...

BOTH are UPSCALE CASUAL-hubs does not need a coat and tie at all--he will love that--

After over 25 years of cruising, my hubs said this was the BEST cruise he had been on due to the relaxation level, the 5 masted sailing, the great small ports and the terrific service and food.....

Friends of ours ( in their 30-40's ) went on the SAME cruise in June of last year for their honeymoon and LOVED it also----

Go on Windsurf. The ship looks clean and new. We took Windsurf from Barbados to Barbados. Windspirit/song/star are all old and it shows. Also since they are smaller, the ship rocked when we took Windsong from Tahiti to Tahiti.

Went on the Windsurf two years ago (Barbados/Barbados and Venice/Rome. Loved the fact that there was good food in a beautiful setting without having to put on jacket and tie. Windsurf has a spa which the smaller ones do not. We thought the rooms were extremely comfortable.

Have done the Windstar twice and will do the windsurf soon. Great package, no stress, good food, service, etc. not alot to do, but who cares? Lots of great folks and time to relax, think, reflect, dance with your love, sleep in, etc. etc., what more do you want.

My husband and I went on the Windstar to the greek islands. Boy what a dissappointment!!! The ship is very old and needs renovating. Towels at the pool!? Ha They were more like rags and even at that they ran out. It is a more expensive line so we thought we would get the service we expected. Not so. We wrote to them when we got back, our travel agent contacted them and so did her representative. We never heard a word. I guess that is what they mean when they say "180 degrees from normal"

We went 2 1/2 yrs ago on the Med cruise (Rome to Nice) and really loved it. We were on our honeymoon and it was fabulous. There were a few drawbacks - not great entertainment and the food, although very good, was not the gourmet treat we thought it would be (we are quite picky). But we picked it because my husband was not sure he would like cruising. He loved it - no ties, no crowds, sitting on the back of the boat smoking a cigar while the sun sets over beautiful ports - not a bad deal. You will definitely have a better time than some of the other ships.

Hope this helps.
