Windstar/Debarkation...Should we change our flight?
 

We will cruise WindSurf in March and this is our first Windstar cruise. Have experienced debarkation with larger cruise lines. Is Windstar different? For example, our flight home is scheduled for 9am [which we thought was a good flight time]. I realize that we know nothing regarding debarkation process of a Windstar cruise. Should we change our flight? <BR>Would appreciate replies from folks who have cruised Windstar.

Elaine, Near the end of our Windstar cruise last year, the passengers were given forms to complete regarding their departing flight schedules. The passengers (and their luggage)were then disembarked accordingly. Hope this helps. Pack breakables carefully - I vividly recall seeing red wine dripping from a suitcase and making a big puddle on the dock!

Elaine, Just realized that your Windsurf trip is from/to Barbados. Our cruise on Windsurf from Lisbon will be arriving in Barbados on Nov 28th at 6am. I will check with other passengers to see if anyone has booked a flight as early as 9am. We will be staying over till Monday simply because we do not want to arrive at JFK on the Sun of Thanksgiving weekend!

We have cruised on larger ships and that is their policy. <BR>We can certainly change our flight home if necessary...although it must be done soon. <BR>Bon Voyage!...Happy Thanksgiving...and thanks for the info.

Hi Elaine! My husband and I took this same cruise last Feb. We did fill out forms the day before we disembarked and I think our luggage had to be out by midnight. Although we had an afternoon flight, we had to be off the ship by 10:00 so we took a tour. I don't think you'd have any trouble with a 9:00am flight, there are no long lines leaving the ship or in the terminal. There are buses right there to take you to the airport. Again(I think we've spoken before) have a great trip, you will love Windstar.

Kathy, <BR> <BR>I appreciate your reply. Prior to reading your comment, I phoned Windstar to inquire re: luggage/night prior to docking. You recall correctly they are to be ready at that time. Also inquired as to flight times home. Windstar said if we got lucky we'd have early flight...we do...and think we'll keep 9am. Hate cruise packing but this will be alot simpler than packing all that dressy attire. We have not taken a 7 night cruise lately, and hope this doesn't seem to brief! Am hopeful we will love this ship.

Elaine, <BR> You mentioned packing and it made me remember something I thought I would mention. No one told us beforehand, but they do have an Hawaiian night on Wed. They have a lovely buffet and you are asked to wear something Hawaiian, which of course we didn't have! The other nights a summer dress or silk blouse and slacks are all you will need. That is one reason we chose Windstar in the first place, no formal attire. No one dressed up, but everyone looked nice. <BR> I agree with you, seven days is really not enough, it just makes you want more. Have a ball!
