Will my kids have fun?

I am thinking about taking my family on a cruise, but I wonder whether my children will have any fun. They do not like shuffleboard or cards or bingo.

Of course you kids will have fun. Just read this board for a while and you will see that your kids can play with squirtguns and other pool toys, listen to their boomboxes, run around unsupervised, steal luggage, pee in the pools, fart in the elevators. Lots of other things to do besides bingo and shuffleboard.

DOn't forget that your kids can whine and complain constantly and use those walkie talkie things that make annoying sounds.

What's with all this "will my kids be bored" stuff you see all the time?
Do kids HAVE to be catered to day and night?
Most cruise lines have good facilities for kids, teens included.
If that fails, they can always entertain themselves as James states, which will likely be the case anyway.

Gee - I think James must be talking about all the drunk adults (his friends?)on the cruise. And miser sounds like a real whiner complainer! The kids were all wonderfully behaved on the cruise I was on.
As for bored - no way!We took our kids to Disneyworld and area for a week and then for a cruise on the Voyager of the Seas. We were worried about the cruise being a little slow for them after Disneyworld.
Well, the kids don't have any desire to go back to Disneyworld for quite some time but we've booked a cruise again for next spring break on a sister ship of the Voyager. It was bar none the best family holiday we've ever had!

James, you missed "peek through the windows" or whatever they call those round ship windows?

linda Jul 2nd, 2002 11:56 AM

Walter,
My kids (7 and 11 at the time)liked it so much, they didn't care about doing
Disney or a beach the next year. I think Carnival, Disney and Royal Caribbean are the best choices for kids' activities. They would love RCI's Voyager class ships!

Walter just do what most parents do--let them run wild for a whole week. Thats sure to increase their like and respect for you. Instruct them in the art of safe sex, take a few dozen condoms and make sure they never leave the cabin without them(it helps if you get them seperate cabins, this way they won't disturb you coming in around 6 a.m.)Take a rope for them to swing off the balcony with--thats always fun. Ah, loads of things for kiddies to do.
