My husband and I (no kids) were given a gift of a 4 day cruise. We have the choices of the Tropicale (been reading a lot of negative things), Imagination, Esctasy and maybe Celebration. We have never been on a cruise. Is it worth upgrading rooms? Which deck is best etc. THANKS.

I was on the Fantasy when I was 15 (I'm 24 now) and am going on the Sensation next month with my husband and another couple. If you can chose- go on the Imagination or the Esctasy. They are both Fantsay class ships and are all the same size and similar in lay-out. The other two are considerably older and smaller- and neither had the five-story atrium- which is pretty impressive! I just think the Fantasy class is the perfect size- huge-but not too huge! <BR>E-mail me with anymore questions- hope I helped!

Oh- also, I forgot. We got an inside room on the Upper deck. If you take an inside room I don't really think it matter what deck you are on -unless you get seasick- go lower and to the middle of the ship. The regular staterooms are the same size inside or out- so it just all depends on if you want to pay for the view! (We only plan on being in our room long enough to sleep- and it is dark outside then anyway- so we wouldn't see anything anyway!)

I've been on both the Ectasy and Imiganation. I believe the Ectasy is older. Both are your best choices. Tell me your itinery and I can recommend tours on the islands.

Merry: i have been on the ecstacy for the 4 day cruise and Fantasy to bahamas. they were the first Fantasy class ships built. they are very mallish, but the imagination was built later is a little more layed back. as far as upgrade, the cabins are all the same size. if you have no trouble with claustrophbia inside is fine. the elevators are very very slow and if you decide to take a cabin on the Rivera deck(bottom) you will have a lot of stairs to climb if you don't want to wait for the elevators. We always go to the top or empress deck so we don't have to climb many stairs. I'm not familiar with these ships but have been on many cruises so from experience, upgrade to a cabin with a balcony (if available) or at worst, make sure you have an outside cabin with a window/porthole. Otherwise you will feel claustaphobic like you're in a cave and loose your sense of day vs. night. Also, you probably don't want the promenade deck where people walk past your room and can look in.
