Which Ship for a Family with teens?
 

Considering a cruise from Galveston (close to us). The only ships we have to choose from are Carnival Jubilee or Celebrity, or the RCL Splendor of the Sea. Me, DH, and Teen girl age 13 (who may bring a friend).

Depends on the price of the cruise, really. As I always state, RCL is my favourite cruise line, so I would of course say, "Book RCL! Book RCL!" But Carnival may be more fun in this case. They have great kids' programmes, but when the teenagers get older, the options become less.

Go to www.cruisesinc.com and check out their 360 degree photos for an idea of what the ships are like.

Either way, you will enjoy Carnival or RCL. Celebrity has a slightly older crowd, which means less kids her age, so stick with other two.

Austin:

Might want to go with RCL on this one. With the exception of the Holiday, the Jubilee is the oldest Carnival ship still sailing (1986), while the Splendor enter service in 1996.

I'm sure it's reasonably well-maintained, but overall design & standards improved so much over that time period that I suspect you'll better off on the Splendor.

Travelagent is right: your teens will find the crowd on Celebrity on the aged side.

TA/Tri....I think Austin was referring to the Celebration,an antique....Celbrity does not go out of Galveston.....Austin.....I agree that CCL is probably overall better activity wise, but in this case I would go with RCL....HTH.........S

FYI---The Galaxy (a Celebrity ship) cruises out of Galveston---longer cruises though.

Okay, I usually prefer Carnival over RCL but when your choice is an older Carnival ship versus RCL, I would choose RCL. Not that the older ones are dumps, just not as nice as the newer and larger ones.
