Which Cruise for Family of 5?

Hi, My kids ages are 13, 19 and 22. They have never been on a cruise but we have. We want to do one at Christmas, we live in CT. What is the best on for their ages and to where? Thanks.

We took our family on two Christmas cruises, LA-Hawaii-LA and Mexican Riviera. You have to work out the best for the school schedules and either can be done from LA or San Diego.I would suggest Mexican Riviera for your first cruise...it will be very warm which might make you happy as you live in CT. Hope you're not thinking this Christmas as I would image they're all booked.

As a Travel Agent that has booked cruises with your family demographic many times. I would have to say go with one of the bigger lines.

Carnival for instance, has great food and a lots for the under 21 crowds to do. Like coffee houses and teen discos.

Your 22 year old is old enough to gamble and drink so there will be plenty for him to do.

The Bahamas and/or the Caribbean is your best choice. The weather is warm and sunny. And what is better than relaxing on a beach on a tropical island Christmas morning.

Many families will get two state rooms. One outside cabin for the parents, and an inside right across the hall for the "kids."

Email me if you want help looking at specific cruises.

I just posted on RC vs. Carnival. My kids are 12 and 20 and we have been cruising for 6 years. They love Carnival. For whatever reason, Carnival does a great job getting the kids together. They all go down to the sign up areas on the first day and still e-mail others from around the country. The sign up area looks a little dorky, but the teenagers are all lined up and ready to go. They have a blast. Very active ships. Since you are on the east coast would rec the Caribbean. Happy sailing.

19 and 20 year olds are often cuaght in the middle on cruises. Too old for teen activities, too young to drink and go into some nightclubs after a certain hour. There may be places your 22 year old can go and not your 19 year old.

Not a trip killer - just something to be aware of.
