Which cabin with kids on Grand Princess

We are scheduling a Western Caribbean cruise on the Grand Princess with our girls ages 10 and 13. We are debating on cabins - a mini-suite for the four of us or 2 standard cabins with balconies. While we would prefer the second option we are having trouble finding cabins next door. Would the mini-suite be a reasonable alternative?

Hi Stephanie,

I do not believe you should consider spending the extra money for adjoining cabins. You should have plenty of room for 4 in a mini-suite. Granted the cabins are long and skinny and you have to mark-time to let one at a time to pass through the bed "corridor" but there is plenty of room in the living area to move about and there is plenty of room for storage.

Enjoy,

Paul

Ingrid -

We are also going on the 1/19 cruise. We did end up booking a mini-suite for the four of us. Are your children boys or girls? I am hoping that there are enough kids on the cruise to make it fun for ours.

My daughter is 10, my son is 12 1/2. I'm a little bit worried about him because he's not too keen on going on a cruise. We've never been and usually go on very active vacations.

Ingrid -

Both of my girls are excited as they have friends that have cruised and reported back how much fun it was. My 13 year old was a little worried about not having a friend come - we had discussed this but in the end decided against it - but she seems to have overcome her aprehension. The days in port are typically very busy - we are planning to snorkle at least a couple of times. I figure the days at sea between the pools, the video archade and just hanging out (seems to be very popular with my 13 year old) they should keep plenty busy.

The Grand has a fabulous teen program. We traveled last March with my 15-year old son. He did not bring a friend. As of the morning of the first full day, he said "this vacation officially
&^$%'s" if you get my drift. By that evening, he was having the time of his life. The structured program gives them options to meet kids, then they can go off and do their own thing or do the events planned by the fantastic Cruise staff. The kids will have a ball.

Thanks, Laura, I needed to hear this. Did you happen to go on the Western C. cruise? If yes, which excursions would you recommend?
