Which Bermuda Cruise Line is Best??
Hello, my husband and I are looking to take a Bermuda cruise this summer. Neither of us have been to Bermuda before, and I am the only one who has taken a cruise prior to this. We live in Connecticut, so we're looking to sail out of New York, New Jersey, or Boston to avoid airfare. Also, we're in late twenties/early thirties with no children, and we're looking to participate in some fun excursions as well. There are so many choices out there, and we were wondering what are best options might be?

YOU have three choices... the NCL Dawn from Boston which goes only to the refurbished Dockyard, the Summit from New Jersey and I think a Holland Åmerica which claims to stop in St. George, but they cannot go directly into St. George so you have to use a ferry. and depending on water conditions may or maynot get in.. This will be our 12th or 13th time to Bermuda...Our friends did the Summit last year and they do have a review on the internet if your interested. Bermuda is only 19 miles long and with buying a three or four day ferry/bus pass you can see it all. There are the Crystal Caves, the beaches, Swizzle inn, swmming with the Dolphins, etc etc If I had a choice I'd definetely go on the Summit which goes out of Bayonne, New Jersey

Holland America you will see many complaints about the Veendam. Last year was their first foray to Bermuda. There were massive complaints on 2 subjects: The docking or lack thereafter. HAL realized too late that the Veendam is too large for the ports offered & had to use a ferry so passengers had to wait to board & lost port time. The other complaint was the very erratic air conditioning or total lack thereof. Fans were offered til they ran out. So what has HAL decided? They will again use the Veendam this year for Bermuda. I personally love HAL & was going to book her until I read all the problems. So you should consider this when booking. |
We sailed the Celebrity Zenith a few years ago and were able to dock at hamilton and St. George. It is a small ship, but nice and I don't know if it is sailing yet. The only problem was a storm at sea which was nasty, but a small ship is great for Bermuda

Think it's the Celebrity Summit from Bayonne.our friends loved it..and they were going to be doing a back back

I went on the Summit out of Bayonne to Berumda last year. It was easy getting there(there were signs to lead us to the terminal). The Summit docked at Kings Wharf and my family got bus/ferry passes for the 3 days. Just becareful traveling. The Atlantic waters to Berumda are very rough.
I also been to New York's port for cruises but Bayonne is easier. |
Thank you for the replies. We decided to book a week on the Celebrity Summit in July, and we are looking forward to our cruise.
