Where does RCCL get their beef?
 

I've booked a cruise to Europe in May aboard the Grandeur of the Seas and am curious if RCCL purchases their beef from Europe or the U.S. With this Mad Cow scare going on in Europe, it is somewhat frightening to even consider eating beef whereever you go.

Not because of the mad cow disease, RCI and other American Cruise Lines always import their meat from the US.

George: <BR>I hate to break this news to you but if you are not happy with the food on RCCL it will not be due to the purchasing practices of RCCL. Take a GOOD look at some OPINIONS on RCCL period. Visit the web sites of cruise critic and Frommers and Travelocity etc. I travel LOTS and can honestly say that RCCL food is HORRIBLE. The entire RCCL experience for me was shameful. <BR>For other readers of these cruise boards our "pal" Greg did not write this.

This is not true. Uneven would describe RCCL food much better. I found some dishes really good ( considering that they have to cook for nearly 2000), others not so good, but horrible, never!

I eat out 4 to 5 times a week in California in addition to significant world travel for well over 30 years. I have no "beef" with RCCL...really, check the boards George if you do not believe me.

Well, RCI food didn't hurt me, that's for sure, but maybe my palate is not so exigent or refined as is yours.<BR><BR>I ate better on the RCI Legend of the Seas than I ate on the Seabourn Legend. FYI, I did return many dishes on the Seabourn Legend, and did none on RCI.<BR><BR>Surlok

Since I cruise all the new ships I sailed the RCI Voyager last year and as expected the food was average. The beef dishes all had a strange taste.<BR><BR>I just came back from the RCI Explorer and was pleasantly surprised .... the new RCI menu is successful. Most of the food was really good. The only entree that I found "funny" tasting was the prime rib. The beef was good but it did not taste like prime rib. Possibly due to the seasoning .... who knows.<BR><BR>I am really pleased that the food was back to the old RCI of a few years back. Especially the desserts.<BR><BR>I just wish they would stop serving the day-old bread.<BR><BR>Paul

Hi George, <BR>Well at least my other posters agree with me on one topic. The food is sub par. I have had better luck with craps at a casino. To the other posters I didn't know I was your, "Pal". Nice sarcasm.

Hi George, well it seems that my "Pals" agree with me on at least one subject matter. The food is sub par. I have better luck with roulette than RCCL's food offerings.

RCL-food is passable-usually very salty==if you need answers on where their beef comes from-call 1-800-327-6700 and ask them directly--they WILL tell you

Thanks everyone for your responses. I called RCCL directly and learned that all of their meat does come from the U.S.

Out of all the cruises I've been on the food on RCCL was my least favorite. But it wasn't horrible. I try to keep in mind how many people they are preparing food for at each seating and that it's going to be more along the lines of "banquet style" than "prepared to order". I've been in the restaurant business(fine dining)for 29 years, and even the best restaurants miss once in a while.
