When to book shore excursions

We are on the Celebrity Inifinity leaving Harwich on June 24 traveling to Iceland and Norway. If we want to use our on board allowance to book shore excursions we cannot do this until we are on board. Has anyone experience with this ? Would it be too late and could some excursions be full ? I appreciate your advice.

While it is possible that some excursions might be sold out, I would think it would be unlikely. The cruise line will be promoting excursions even as the first buses are pulling up to the gangplank. Instead of worrying about this, spend your time investigating private tours at your ports of call. Plenty of info on the net as well as on sites such as cruise critic. If you want to spend your allowance on excusrsions wait til you are on board. Watch out fro 'shopping opportunies." They usually mean 1/3 to 1/2 of your tour in a tshirt shop.

Book early and avoid shut outs. You can always canel if you find something better or cheaper later on. No penalties if you let them know at least a day or 2 ahead of time.

Sometimes, price goes up or price goes down. Prebook and cancel. That's my motto.

I think I will just take my chances and wait until on ship to book as soon as we board. Thanks for you feedback.

Iceland is quite busy as destination during Summer, I would suggest early booking for your excursion.
