When is spring break?
 

Does anyone know when spring break is scheduled this year? I know different schools have different times but I'd like a general idea so I can book a cruise without too many kids on board.

wags....spring break is anytime from end of February to mid April.Somebody, somewhere is going to be on "break".Public schools,private scholls, all different.Howvere, I think most people would think of mid-March as the "usual" spring break.Hope this helps! Good Luck........S

I've taken spring break cruises twice in the past 4 years. There have been lots of kids on board, but if the ship has a good kid program that helps a lot. Our spring break is always either the week before or the week after Easter. This year, it's the 8th to the 18th of April. I agree that a lot of schools take a week in March, so you might want to wait and go in late April to be sure the kids aren't going along on the ship with you.

Beware of college spring break! We didn't mean to but were on such a cruise last March. The cruise can be an incredible bargain when four share a cabin and the ship was overloaded in this way. The pool was so crowded in the water and around the edge that it was impossible to get in. Room service warned of an exceptionally long wait due to overuse. And the drinking on the decks became a problem to others with buckets of beer everywhere, bottles rolling around and the general loud drunkeness everywhere.
It's not the young children with their families that is the problem!

Thanks. I'll have to really think about this. Please tell me the names of the ships you were on-- or does this happen on all ships? I'm considering the NCL Dawn out of NY.

I'll agree with the comment about not going when the college students are on spring break. Families with children are much easier to get along with!!

The kids activities on the Star Princess (out of LA to Mexico.. 2002, not sure if it is still doing this same itinerary) must have been really great because we hardly ever saw any of the kids running around on the decks! They had activities for age groups all the way from little to about age 17/18! All the comments I heard were positive. The "at sea" days were a little bit chilly on this cruise. I was surprised as I thought southern Cal and Mex s/be warmer in the spring! The ports were just fine though.

Carnival Celebration out of New Orleans (that ship has moved to a new port, I'm sure) was also a lot of families. It was such a fun cruise, and I met so many interesting people! I enjoyed the ports in Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. I enjoyed the lovely warm days at sea also! The Carib is warmer than ocean cruises in the spring IMO.
