What to do in Icy Strait Point?

I have read among the posts but could not find anything about Icy Strait Point. Our cruise ship will be there from 6:30am to 2:30pm. Is there anything we should do?

Suggest you go to www.cruisecritic.com and check out the info under Alaska. It is chock full of good info.

I was in Icy Straits last year. It had the feel of a created port. I was not impressed.

Whale watching is excellent. :)

Thanks 'BudgetQueen' for all your posts. Is whale watching good at the end of May / beg. of June?

May/June is in season.

How is the whale watching in late August? We will be there next week, the excursions from Icy Strait don't interest us except for the whale watching. But then, it feels funny to leave our paid for ship to go on a small boat for $300. Is it worth it?
