What to do in Belize?
Can anyone recomend any particularly interesting excursions in Belize.
|
My cruise stopped at Belize. I didn't do this, but a lot of people recommend cave tubing. Supposed to be fun but you have to hike with the tube and it's tiring, so I've heard.

What else is there to do in Belize? Shopping? Drinking? Food? Self tours? I can't stand ship excursions because they are way too expensive. I would rather do it myself. ((b))

Belize and Honduras were my least favorite cruise stops. Had to tender over to Belize. Weren't interested in any of the excursions, so there was nothing to do. Walked a few minutes from the pier and the "shopping" was nothing more than a few vendors set up on the grass under tents. There were some beat up houses around there, nothing else we could see, so we didn't walk around. It didn't look safe to venture off from the pier. Didn't see any restaurants around, but read in guidebooks that the food in Belize is bad anyway. It was also the most humid place we stopped. You might want to stay on the ship!

Belize is not a "walking about" city outside the tender port dock. I have gone cave tubing independently with Reggie, a great tour.

We did cave tubing with Reggie in Belize. It does require a little athletic ability but we had all sorts of people on our trip. You could also take the water taxi to Caulker Caye and roam around there. Belize is not a stay near the pier place, it is beautiful when you get out of the city. Why go to a port and not at least try to enjoy it? Also, we loved Honduras (Roatan) which is also a get out of town place. We went to a resort that was fabulous.
