What does a Cabin Guarantee Mean?

Jump to last reply

What does it mean when you book a cruise, and the agent tells you that it's a cabin
Category 4 guarantee?
We were able to secure what we thought was a good deal on Celebrity's Infinity for July, and it was cheaper to book a Cat. 4, which is an outside cabin versus a Cat. 10, which was an inside cabin! I heard that guarantee means that they will assign your cabin when you check in as opposed to giving it out in advance. Also, if one has a "guarantee" does
that mean that there's no likelihood of an upgrade? I'd appreciate any input on this subject.
