western caribbean cruise. which shore excursions?

Hi, we´re going on our first cruise next april. We are a famlily group of 7 (ages 12 to 55).
There seems to bee too many options when you go on shore, We are looking for quiet beaches, eventually do some shopping (in my dreams, right?). We are sailing on the allure and stop at labadee, falmouth and cozumel.
Could you please share your experience with us?
Thank you so much!

Cozumel has nice beaches. There are several beach clubs to spend the time. San Miguel has shop after shop of tourist stores.

Labadee is their private Island, so it's just a beach stop. They might have some stands set up for buying souvinoirs.

Jamaica is for sightseeing. Take a tour to Dunns River Falls and maybe some of the other sights in the area.

Recommend ATV Tour in Cozumel. Just got back and it was a ton of fun.

Are you going April 2011 or 2012?

You can save lots of $$ booking your own tours compared to doing them on the ship.

eZgoing,

You have plenty of time then. Later, I will post my experiences and a link to the companies that I used.

Mexico, WildTours ATV Cozumel

For a good time ATV riding in Cozumel, I highly recommend WildTours ATV. Our trip was arranged ahead of time thru: http://www.caribbeanshoretours.com/C...lorerTour.htm:
This required a 30% credit deposit with the remainder paid in cash at our pick up point in Cozumel.

For three passengers with two ATV's, a single and a double, the total price was about $180 for a two hour tour. You have to get on the early tour if you want free time for the beach or shopping.

WildTours does offer a 4 hour tour which includes a beach stop. Your reservation e-mail explains meeting point at Magaritaville. Bring driver's license for riders and a bandana or mask if you don't want to eat dust although it added to the fun.

San Gervasio Mayan Ruin would be a good stop, then hit the beaches and end the day at the ships by the dock. If you are really interested at Mayan ruins, Talum and Coba are better choice but you will endure a rough ferry ride and long bus rides. The Eco Park would be an interesting stop and is for all ages.

Dunn River Falls and the Bontanic Gardens would be the stops you should consider in Jamica for the entire group.

For Labadee, just take in the beach and the water sports offered, and relax. Unelss the younger kids want to take on the zip line ...

Good luck!
