Has anyone been on the Holland America ship The Westerdam? Thinking of going on the Eastern Caribbean itinery. What are the cabins like?

We have been on Westerdam's sister ships that are very close in style and room arrangements. One cruise was not a scenic cruise, so we chose an inside room on the deck with the largest suites...very spacious, queen sized bed, night stands, couch, two chairs, little tables, built in dressers and desk...plenty of closet space and nice bathroom...behind the bed they had a wall of curtains with lighting behind it that made you feel as if there was really a window there. <BR>The other cruise was a scenic one, so we chose a small suite with a veranda, I believe A deck...plenty big with twin beds pushed together, couch, two chairs and built in furniture and good closet space and really enjoyed the veranda for standing or sitting outside. We would choose Holland America again anytime...very well satisfied!!

The Westerdam was my first cruise experience. It is still my favourite ship. Email me if you need any specific info. Do not take an outside cabin on the same deck as the lido because its a shortcut for breakfast lines. Even though the stateroom & view is wonderful, the lineups end up in your hallway in the morning. Other than that it's the perfect ship.

We love the Holland-American experience but the Westerdam was our least favorite <BR><BR>as public rooms are all on 1 level & while the crew loves it for the activities there are lines & congestion & also big problems on the Lido deck. She also seems "tired" & could use a good refurb. <BR><BR>Now the Statendam is a truly great experience. <BR><BR> <BR><BR> <BR><BR> <BR><BR>

Sailed on the Westerdam 2 yrs ago. It has charm that newer ships do not have but also problems like elevators no reach all floors. I have a friend working on it in the diningroon. If you see Wayan Arka say hi from Rose. He is an assistant waiter and all around nice person.
