waitlist vs sold out
We are sailing in a few weeks. In checking various websites I notice several categories are waitlisted while other categories are sold out. Since our sailing is close to 20 days prior and final payment has been made, can someone explain 'waitlist' vs 'sold out'.
Thanks!

Waitlist means Cabins have been sold, but no payment made, so it might go back into inventory if the Payment is not made.
Sold Out means all cabins in that Category have been Paid for. It is unlikely they will become available (especially if you are in the 100% cancellation period.)

Thanks, Joyce!

I was under the impression, that if booking 59 days or less, one would need to make final payment. I did not realize a pax could book so close to sailing without paying in full.
Golden Princess has several categories waitlisted - does this mean pax booked but have not paid? Did not realize there was an option so close to sailing.

It usually means an Option has been taken, but the Passenger still has a Day or 2 to Pay.
Princess also tends to waitlist cabins that are paid, in case an illness or death causes someone to Cancel.
I have had Waitlisted Clients clear, but often they do not.

And how does this differ from a "Guarantee"? I am stll 6 months out and have a "guarantee sky suite" on the Mercury. Does anyone have a guess as to the chances for the upgrade?

Thanks.
Hi Debbie,

Since there is only two categories above you, the Royal Suite and the Penthouse Suite which are a thousand to 3,000 dollars additional, I would say a slim chance.

Are you sure you were offered a guarantee or was it a waitlist?

Paul

Thanks again, Joyce!

We have an assigned mini suite, are past passengers and booked onboard (last March). There are 10 PH available. Is it likely they'll sell out? Our sailing is 3/2.

Hi Paul,

It definitely says Guarantee, and we've got a confirmation number and have started making payments. On the stateroom number it says guarantee, so I called them & they said that I am paying for category SS & will get that or better. There's no chance I'll get bumped off is there? We already have our flights and hotels ... Any advise?

Thanks,

Debbie

Thanks,

Debbie

Debbie,
You won't be bumped off. The guarantee just "guarantees" you a room at at least the level you booked. You won't get a room at a lower level than that or be bumped off the cruise.
Hi Debbie,

It would be such a stroke of luck to get upgraded to a Royal or Penthouse Suite. We sailed in a Royal Suite once on the Galaxy and it was wonderful. We even had a doorbell.

And as Gail stated, you will not lose your Sky Suite.

Paul

Hi Gail & Paul,

Thanks for the info. I won't hold my breath, but at least I know I'm on the ship ...

Debbie
