Viking River Cruise - Pretty darn good!!
We recently returned from a Viking River Cruise to France, the Chateaux, Rivers and Wine trip with the pre-trip extension that began in Paris and went down to Orleans and Tours.
This was our 2nd full river cruise (although we went with Viking to China) and we had a great time.
Viking's staff before the trip was helpful and knowledgeable. From the moment we exited immigration in Paris to the time we checked in the Bordeaux airport to return home, Viking had our backs!
We chose to spend an extra day in Paris so that we could have time to see some of our old favorite sights. Viking then took over when we boarded the coach for our drive down into the Loire valley. First stop was Orleans. We also Chateau Chenonceau, Chateau Chambered as we drove to Tours.
When we arrived in Bordeaux to begin the cruise part of the trip we were greeted by the captain and hotel manager and escorted to our stateroom. The staff was accommodating and friendly, the ship was spotless and the food - well, what can one say? Outstanding. When we met the crew and saw that the chef was rather large (I'm too polite to say fat) we felt that we would have great food - after all, who can trust a skinny chef???
The program director was efficient and very humorous and personable as he would give the evening talks always ending with a funny joke. All around, everyone was really nice.
I would definitely go again on a Viking trip. They are first class all the way and the trips are worth the money.
