Venice and Barcelona Hotel Advice

Will need a pre-cruise hotel in Venice and post-cruise hotel in Barcelona. Anyone have ideas or advice to share of your experience? How did you get around from the airport to the hotel and then to the port? Thank you.

We took cabs from the airport to the hotel and the hotel to the port in Barcelona.

We stayed at the Hotel Lleo, which we really liked. Great location, wonderful staff, large room, modern bathroom, moderate price.

Since I believe in playing it forward I'm beginning to feel like a cheer leader for my favorite hotel and the favorite of cruisers in Barcelona.. www.hotelcontinental.com. The hotel has a 24 hour free buffet and free internet service. It is right a the top of Las Ramblas next to the subway and thee is a bus stop nearby. As for getting from the airport to the hotel and back.. if you write me I'll give you the name of my driver who picks you up, brings up the luggage to the hotel and then if you want takes you on a tour for as long as you'd like..he has been raised in the US and speaks perfect english. Then will pick you and your luggage up and deposit you at the ship. Oh yes, Barcelona is our favorite port and we have been there three times. If you would like info on the driver please write me.. parrot [email protected]

We liked Hesperia Ramblas (http://www.hesperia.com/nh/en/hotels...a-ramblas.html) in Barcelona; it's also well located, and modern. Less modern but still nicely located is Hotel Becher in Venice (http://www.hotelbecher.com/).

We also stayed at the Hotel Continental and really enjoyed it.We had a room with a balcony that overlooked Las Ramblas and it was fun to sit on our balcony and watch the action below. The 24 hour free buffet included ice cream, beer, soda pop and wine.Something for everyone. We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the port. From the hotel to the port the taxi was 12 euro for 4 of us with luggage. There is a taxi stand less than a block away to the left when you leave the hotel. Walk to the taxi stand rather than have a taxi called for you. It will save you a lot of $$$.Across the street and slightly to the left is a small grocery store where you can buy soda pop, water and wine for the ship.
In Venice be sure to stay in Venice not Mestre. There is a hotel that many people use close to the port but sorry as I can't remeber the name. Go to Tripadvisor or Cruisecritic and I am sure someone can tell you the name of it. Think I must be having a senior moment!

Ahhh I hope not too late! In Venice Norwegian runs their own free shuttles from P.le Roma to the pier.

We stayed in the area of P.le Roma - for reference you can use Expedia or any other "big" website to look up hotels in that area. Ours was Arlecchino.

We came to Venice early to enjoy a few days of sightseeing. With vaporetto passes went everywhere.

I suggest you the "Antico Doge" hotel in Venice, located near Rialto Bridge. Medieval building with modern facilities inside. Very nice hotel with good rates.
From the airport you can take a private boat transfer...
