Vantage River cruises
 

Has anyone been on one of these boats? Can actual experience with this line, not reading the brochure be offered. I am looking around the web and I do not find any journals or actual recent experiences. I know this is considered moderate priced river boating but a boat is a boat and the company is very easy to deal with. Many a fine time can be had on a less fancy cruise as well. Only in American is the toilet paper graded. And, such.

Hi Michael,<BR><BR>I believe you are speaking of Viking River Cruises. This is an excellent cruise company and will cater to Americans. A better line is Peter Dielmann but there is a predominately foreign influence.<BR><BR>There is quite a bit of difference in the upscale lines as mentioned above and the value lines. The more you pay the better the experience and comfort.<BR><BR>Paul

Hi Michael,<BR><BR>Vantage just rang a bell. You are correct that Vantage, which is a tour company, now has river boats. I do not know who they lease them from.<BR><BR>Vantage is a budget company and I have never toured with them.<BR><BR>Paul

Thanks fellows, Vantage River cruises, not Viking.<BR><BR>I will go looking elsewhere. These boats all travel in the night, dock in the days. You can use their tours (included in this cheap trip - have a look) or rove around on your own which is what we do.<BR><BR>As a couple now, we did the first travel as children on the Queen Mary so have tried it all. If lobster tails are required on your trip, you are not a tourist. On any cruise ship you would be lucky to find a dozen Americans (I am one) with a guide book. They all troop off and try to buy something immediately and pay nothing for it. Then they return and talk about the sanitation. Another forum for me, this is not the right one. Oh yes, one more thing. You will find few European or Asian tourists in the US who cannot say please and thank you in English. Hint,hint.
