Vancouver hotel close to Princess cruise
 

We want to spend two nights in Vancouver prior to boarding a Princess ship to cruise to Alaska (in late June). Can you helpful Fodor's readers suggest some hotels we might look into? We'll have a rental car with us, so parking is a consideration. We don't need fancy. Easy access to the Princess dock would be nice, but not if it costs a lot extra.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency for 2 nights pre-cruise. They have a park and stay package. It is in a central location and very convenient to the port. We don't like to search for a place for breakfast so ate breafast at the hotel..Excellent!

The Pan-Pacific would be th closest and probably the most expensive. If you stay there, you won't need a car as the pier is located at the same place.

There are plenty of nice hotel in the general area but nothing cheap. You will be looking at $150 plus tax minimum.

Youmay want to look at Delta (a Canadian only chain) by the airport. Easy access to freeway but is located in Richmond.

The Hyatt regency was good

Another vote for the Hyatt, we stayed there and loved it. A quick taxi ride to the pier will get you there in 10 minutes. If you get a chance and the weather is nice check out Whistler, views and scenery out of this world.

The Pan Pacific has spectacular views and is right at the pier - I love to sit in my room and watch floatplanes, water taxis, clouds on the mountains on the harbor.

You could also try Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Westin Bayshore, Rosedale on Robson. They are all within a few blocks of the pier, you could walk or catch a taxi.

The Fairmont Waterfront Hotel is right beside the cruise ship dock and is gorgeous! They put on special deals for cruise ship people sometimes...they have different deals all the time. Check out their website.

We stayed at the Sandman Suites on Davies...$145/night Very convenient to Canada Place Pier...the neighborhood is colorful and fun...lots of ethnic restaurants and walking distance to Granville Island ferry, etc. Even though the cruise lines tell you to not arrive early to board...Plan on getting there early...there is a major backup of taxis especially if more than one ship is in port..Have a great time

Seriously consider turning your rental car in when you get into Vancouver. A car isn't necessary for your quick visit and parking rates are high. Why pay for the days you're on the cruise, as well. Lots of public transportation available. We did a priceline bid for downtown 4-star and got the Renaissance Marriott. We walked to the terminal with our luggage and had no trouble. I'm sure a cab ride would be very nominal.
