Vacation planner - is this a fiction?

Somebody sent me an e-mail, something like "I've tried to reach you on the phone" and the e-mail looks legitimate. I dialed the phone number there, yes, got Royal Caribbean.

I didn't know they assign a vacation planner to each guest, or do they? Is it some kind of a fake e-mail, there are so many floating around! Or is it legitimate?

Should I call RCCL or don't bother? Or should I call that guy who sent me an e-mail?

Is there another number off the RCCL website to call - or some other customer service e-mail address? You might want to contact RCCL that way and find out for sure. If they don't have a vacation planner, they would probably be interested in knowing about the phishing e-mail.

I called the RCCL 800 number, after talking to 2 people they've figured this out.

They have several travel agencies specialized in selling their cruises, and it was one of them contacting me through e-mail. Not a phishing e-mail, this was my only concern.

As this was my first cruise ever, I bought it directly from RCCL.

Now you can turn over your booking to a travel agency if they offer you onboard credit, or free insurance, etc. You can contact my agent Alex at [email protected] he always does that.

What do you mean "turn over your booking"? I paid already, can this be reversed and an agent will re-book me for the same cabin #?

Your booking can be transfered to the agent without any change or rebooking. Agent then will be in charge for any contacts with RCCL. I know this can be easily done before you make your final payment but not sure whether it works if you already paid in full.

I was curious what's all this about, and left him a message on Wednesday morning. Now it's Friday afternoon, he didn't call back.

As for your agent... maybe next time. This is my very first cruise, and I want to deal with RCCL directly. They are easy to reach, and easy to deal with. I understand I'm losing money on it.
