UniWorld | River Cruise - Castles Along the Rhine
Hello -
I am a single female in my mid-twenties planning on booking the Castles Along the Rhine river cruise this upcoming November. I am wondering what is the average age on these types of cruises? I plan to take advantage of their single travelers discount (supplemental waiver fee), but I fear that average age might be closer to the late 30s or more. I would prefer to receive feedback from those who have taken UniWorld River Cruises in the past. Has anyone taken this specific cruise before? Any advise would be appreciated! Thank you for your help help! Lili |
I have been on Viking and the age group tended to be pretty ancient. Most looked to be 60s-70s. Definitely not a party boat.

On Uniworld and Avalon, the age group seemed to be 50s and up.

I have seen anyone your age on the four river cruises I have gone on.

We have done the Rhine River Cruise on Uniworld and the age was mostly 50+. We did have family members with us who were in their 30's and 40's and they loved the trip, but being with family might have been a deciding factor for them. My niece has gone on similar trips alone since then, so think she thought it was fun.

Don't do it -- investigate other options recommended for single travel -- River boats seem to be the latest standardized darling for retirees, which we are but you wont find us on one of those. We travel to explore the destinations we choose, not spend 1/2 day or less at those port citiesthat happen to fall along the river; meet up three times/day at our regular table. See Viking report on 'river traffic' elsewhere in this forum. People in their late 30s are not taking cruises unless they're taking their kids to D-World (at least not my kids). The river boats have a dining room and perhaps a lounge! Options are limited.
