Our Fabulous Fodor's Frolic has to occur early in the cruise. Once we hit Israel its all too port intensive to party. I'd suggest first, second or third night - depending on your jetlag. I should be more or less over it 'cos I'm in Egypt before - but you guys might be fairly crazed.

I'm very dull in person. You'll hardly even notice I'm there. Scarcely a riot - more a small scuffle.

We have to be careful. Dogster is just trying to lull us into a false sense of security by his pretension of dullness, so he can quietly observe and use us as characters in one of his travel stories. We won't stand for it. Dogster must lead!

lol lol lol.

Well, it would be fair to say that I didn't meet all these extra-ordinary people by talking about myself all the time. I retain an air of enigmatic mystery and ask many questions.

Most people think I am a faded rock-star, only kept alive by injections of Azamara.

Dogster, that wouldn't be a picture of you on your home page, would it? That dude could be what Mick Jager would looks like 10 years from now.

Too bad that I am already booked elsewhere during the same time. There is alwasy next time ...

Jacket, you must be familiar with Baltimore.
Dogster, love some of your comments about cruisecritic. We expect you to be witty and entertaining, so we won't worry about whether or not we are. Are you a Gemini?

We arrive in Istanbul on Oct 22, go straight on to Cappadocia, catch an early flight back on the 25th, and straight to the ship. So two whole days in Cappadocia. We debated the extra expense, but that is one place I've wanted to go for many years, and the single place in Turkey I most wanted to see. Making all the connections work was a challenge. After the cruise, we will stay a few days in Istanbul. Haven't booked hotels yet; don't worry about that too much - never yet had to sleep on a park bench.

Now that the major work is done, I am excited, and really looking forward to meeting you two.

Larry,
Are you going to the ship early, or staying in Istanbul for the day and getting on the ship later; or checking in and getting back off the ship to do more exploring in Istanbul on the 25th or the morning of the 26th?

We should get to the ship shortly after noon. If we are not "Dog" tired (Hey, Dogster), I'd like to head out right away, at least get a taste of the place, but won't kill myself to do it since we'll be there later. If it is ok, and if you are on the ship already, I will get in touch with you for your opinion as you will already have some experience to go by. Otherwise, will figure something out that will be fun. Can't believe it is this close. I still have hotels to book.

We get in on the 23rd. and stay in a hotel for two days, then will get on the ship on the 25th. I was thinking to get to the dock around 11:30. We do plan to explore IST as much as possible. Ask away, I would be glad to help but I'll bet professor Dogster has the low down. I mean what doesn't he know about just anywhere. See you soon Sass and Dogster.

Hey Sass.
Mr. Dogster has only five more sleeps before he flies out - the countdown has begun. I got those little excitement butterflies already...
You too?

This looked like a good lateral Istanbul option:

Really, Istanbul is easy. Everybody will assume you want to go to the obvious tourist sites, like everybody and, like everybody, you will. Why? 'Cos they are really interesting -
but swarming with all the other tourists.

Actually, if you leave the tourist stuff alone, Istanbul is a verrry cosmopolitan city, best seen from a hotel not in the middle of tourism. Go boutique. Read Tripadvisor very carefully. I choose 'W Hotel' but it's expensive.

Remember, there is a big public holiday the day you arrive.

Percy, we will follow your advice to the letter, but only the last line.

Dogster, Thanks for the web site. Hope the first part of your trip is wonderful. Rest well the next five nights - then let the butterflies free.

Larry, Have a great time in Istanbul, see you on board

Ah, Dogster, Thank you.

Now you are torturing us. That is so fantastic and beautiful. All that lovely blue and white in the cabins made me smile. You should certainly sleep well in spaces like that.
Enjoy it to the max.

Hope your fellow travelers are interesting. It will be great hearing about it all first hand.
