TRICKS TO GETTING BEST 1 WAY AIRFARES
Looking at a cruise in April 2012 from Miami to Barcelona. Live in Memphis, so obviously have to fly MEM / MIA and then BCL / MEM (or some returning European city). Is there a way to minimize the cost of one ways versus typical R/T tix ?? Have never done a 1 way cruise before, especially transatlantic, so would welcome the travel tips of those who have such experiences. Thanks !!

I've had the best luck with one-way fares using Orbitz. I try all the major sites, but for some reason Orbitz always beats the others by a significant amount ($500 difference when flying from NYC to Amsterdam this June). Good luck.

I just booked a one way on Vayama and used them numerous times and are very happy with their service.
We are planning a one way repositioning cruise but in August from Amsterdam to NY. Over the past 2 years, consolidated all my miles that I could, bought miles when they offered to double them, transferred some from my husband's account and will used my points from my credit card for another ticket.
If you saw in the news that with Hurricane Irene bearing down on Puerto Rico, 2 cruise lines left a couple of hours early. Only ones compensated were the folks who bought the air package with the cruise. Something to consider with Irene now aiming toward the east coast.

If you can find a great deal from your city to somewhere in Europe, you can try www.WhichBudget.com to find low cost flights from wherever you land to you cruise departure port. Say you find a cheap flight round trip from (wherever you're from to Hamburg). Go to www.WhichBudget.com and look for flights from Hamburg to say Barcelona and back from wherever the cruise ends to Hamburg & home. Hope it make sense. We did this 2 yrs. ago flying from ORD to Heathrow and then taking Norwegian Air back to Heathrow after the cruise. Air Lingus had some great 1 way fares out of Barcelona too.

Depending on which cruise line you're using, you may be eligible to use Choice Air. They're affiliated with the RCCL product: Royal Caribbean, Azamara, and Celebrity.
www.choiceair.com
You can do a "Quick Flight Search" if you don't yet have a reservation number.
I'm not affiliated with the company in any way.
Enjoy your transatlantic cruise. We're doing our third one later this year. Wonderful experience!
