Travel Scam?

Today my mother received something in the mail suggesting she was selected for a marketing research study with Ramada Plaza. The notice seems very brief. Basically it says she gets 2 nights at the Ramada Plaza Resort and then a Bahama cruise with Carnival or Imperial Majesty (who is IM?)and a 7 day Alamo car rental.
Also included is a $1,600 voucher, "for travel as a credit against package rate"?
It also says it is for your family, but then fails to mention how many people anywhere. It doesn't ask for money or any information, just lists a phone number. It just sounds to good to be true. Any advice?

Almost certainly a scam. There's one bb where it is or at least used to be (I stopped visiting that bb) the only subject; Ramada Scams that is.

Sounds like it could be a Timeshare Sale.,
I recieved something like that in the mail several years ago, and the practice still continues today. I took the 'free' trip to the Bahamas in exchange for a supposedly 30 minute presentation for a timeshare. It turned out to be a half day of hell presentation. VERY hard sell. They (the timeshare people) would not give me the paperwork for the cruise until they were convinced I was NOT going to buy their timeshare. How many times do you have to say NO!? I must have said it 20 times before they believed me.

Hi Andrew,
This sounds quite a lot like an outfit that's been investigated in several states. Here's a link to a press release from the West Virginia Attorney General http://www.state.wv.us/wvag/press/2000/feb/10.html
