transportation from FLL airport to pier
There will be 10 of at the start of President's week Feb., which is peak travel time. Since I understand this is the third most traveled cruiseport I'm hesitant to leave it to chance about getting taxis. How can we get to the pier without breaking the bank?

I don't know why you are fearful of taxis, but I would guess that would be your best way to get from airport to cruise port.
A few years ago I went from pier to airport very quickly and the fare was $7.25 before tip. Very reliable and reasonable. Good luck and have a great cruise! |
These guys have a stand right outside baggage claim. You can walk right out and get a ride - a shared van was $18 per person (but that was to Miami's port). You could probably call and see about a private ride.

I live in Fort Lauderdale. The port is very close to the airport. Don't worry about not getting a taxi during peak season, there are plenty. It will cost you less than $10.
Don't pre-reserve with the cruise line, you'll be wasting your $$$. Have fun! |
No big deal....split up, grab 3 taxis and within minutes you're at the pier for around $7 or so.

In October, taxis were eadily available, but cost about $12-14.

No worries - it's a 5 to 7 minute ride. There are a zillion taxis right outside of baggage claim. Just walk outside and look for the cab stand. You'll be on your way before you know it.

The cruise port is so close to the airport that we looked right down on the top decks of the cruise ships as we passed over them during landing.
I'm with the others...take the taxi. It's quick, easy and the cheapest way to go. If you're worried about being seperated, just agree to all wait at a designated area until everyone in your party is ready to board, like outside the cruise terminal entrance. Have FUN on your cruise in February. Thats a really good time to cruise after the holidays and before the main spring break crowds. |
Thank you all so very much. That's what we will do.
To answer the question why we are so fearful...it's simple. We went to a few islands in Greece last summer and traveled by boat. The swarms of people leaving the ship at once was mindboggling and had we not arranged for the hotels to send us a van, we would literally have been lost. I know...that was Greece and this is FL. So again, thanks for the encouragement. |
