Transfer or taxi
Hello. I was wondering the pros and cons of taking a taxi or the ships transfer from the airport to port. It would be from Orlando to Port Canaveral. I heard it takes about 30 to 45 minutes from the airport to the ship.

There are a lot of van services that go to Port Canaveral, so you can easily do it on your own (particularly if you don't want to be on a big bus). But don't take a traditional taxi, because that will cost a fortune. Art's Taxi costs $55 for up to 3 people, but some shuttles charge by the person, and then it's only about $20 per person. Be sure to make a reservation in advance. Most of the companies have web sites. Other companies are Blue Dolphin and Busy Traveler.

JJTT, please check a mapquest for specifics to give you a better idea, I am local and it is not 30 minutes to the coast, it will be 45-60 minimum based on traffic and time of day....just be sure you have enough time :-)

"Mears transporation" is a popular local transfer company as well...

If you are on "ship provided transportation" and you get delayed enroute, I'll bet the ship will wait for the "bus" and will not leave port without you. However, if you find your own transportation to the ship, and you are delayed, I'll bet you'll be waving bye-bye to the ship from the dock. These cruise lines have there procedures perfected, I would take advantage of their expertise.
