Too fat to fly! Helicopter tours in Alaska
Is there a weight limit for individuals that want to do a helicopter tour in Alaska? I know at some point they must ask you your weight.....is there a point at which they turn people away if you weigh too much?

Can't speak for Alaska but the chopper tours in Hawaii have weight/size limits and will require purchase of two tickets if you exceed the max. An alternative is to ask about fixed-wing aircraft flightseeing tours; it's cheaper, they're much more tolerant of passenger size, and the view is better anyway (no middle seat). Even if the tour ship doesn't offer them, almost every airport in Alaska has at least one charter operator who will be happy to arrange a 30 min. or one hour trip, probably for around $100 - $150 pp if you can find 3 passengers.

Tanya is correct,I've just returned from Alaska and I noted that all of the tour operators have the same rule.In fact, our tour description booklet states that the 50% extra charge for those over 250lbs is an FAA requirement.Fixed wing aircraft have no limits. The seaplane flights are very nice and slightly less costly BUT they can't land on a glacier and that is considered a must do by most people taking the helicopter flights. If I were you I'd go the extra money for the helicopter glacier experience, you may never pass that way again. Whatever, enjoy !!!!!
